Fashion Inspiration at The MET: Why “It’s a Cinch!” Stopped Me in My Tracks
Recently, I spent a wonderful few days exploring New York City and visiting The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET). As someone who loves fashion, creativity, and beautiful design, I couldn't wait to see the Art of Fashion exhibit.
As I wandered through the galleries admiring the incredible pieces, one display stopped me in my tracks.
Its title?
"It's a Cinch!"
I couldn't help but laugh and take a photo.
As the inventor of Cinch it!, a simple fashion accessory designed to help women create a better fit in their clothing, seeing those words in one of the world's most iconic museums felt like a little wink from the universe.
Fashion Is More Than Clothing
One of the things I love most about fashion is that it's personal.
Fashion allows us to express who we are, how we feel, and sometimes even who we're becoming.
The Art of Fashion exhibit (see the reel @thecinchit) reminded me that great style isn't always about buying something new. Sometimes it's about looking at what you already own in a different way.
That's actually the philosophy behind Cinch it!
I created Cinch it! because I wanted a simple way to transform the fit of clothing without sewing, tailoring, pins, or damaging fabric.
A loose dress.
An oversized shirt.
A tunic that needs a little shape.
Sometimes a small adjustment can completely change the way an outfit looks and feels.
Three Easy Ways to Refresh Your Wardrobe
1. Shop Your Closet First
Before buying something new, take another look at the pieces you already own.
A dress that feels too loose today might become a favorite again with a simple styling adjustment.
2. Create Shape
Many women tell me they love their clothing but wish it had a little more definition.
Creating shape at the waist can instantly make an outfit feel more flattering and polished.
3. Think Versatility
One of my favorite travel tips is finding ways to create multiple looks from fewer pieces.
Whether you're packing for a weekend getaway or a European adventure, small styling tricks can make a huge difference.
Inspiration Is Everywhere
My visit to The MET reminded me that inspiration can show up in unexpected places.
Sometimes it's in a museum.
Sometimes it's on a city street.
And sometimes it's hidden in the back of your own closet waiting for a fresh perspective.
Fashion should be fun.
Fashion should be creative.
Most importantly, fashion should help you feel confident.
That's what inspired me to create Cinch it!, and it's still what inspires me today.
Have you ever rediscovered a favorite piece of clothing and fallen in love with it all over again?
I'd love to hear your story.
